Hi everybody, I’m Kirsty Meakin from Naio Nails. In this video, I’m gonna show you how to create a Rosary Bead design. God bless you! Right! So, we’re gonna work on the tip and I’m going to be using some gel polish.
I’m gonna be using these two gel polish. So, we’ve got…this is like a brown burgundy. Adam: It’s red to me. Kirsty: a brown red Adam: That’s red. Kirsty: That’s not red! Adam: it’s red Kirsty: Ah! That’s not red, is it? No, it isn’t.
Tell him. This is like a shimmery gold, we’re gonna use that and I may just take a little bit of this as well. So, I’m gonna use this one to do a background first. So, this is from the Pearl collection of gel polishes that we have.
I do like doing it on a tip because you can just slap it on any old how. Adam: You don’t have to worry about the cuticle. Kirsty: Not worried about the cuticle. You can really mess about with it. Obviously, if I was doing it on a real person, that would really take my time.
I’m gonna cure that. Better do two coats of that colour. So, just popped a little bit of the Gel Residue Wipe-off Solution in that little dampen dish just so I can clean my brush. And the brush that I’ve got is, it’s not super thin, it is a bit chunky and that’s fine for what we want to do.
I’m gonna take this burgundy colour or red, if your name’s Adam. See, that’s not red. Adam: Blood looks red! That’s looks like blood and blood is red. Kirsty: Scab. A scab colour. Adam: A scab colour.
Kirsty: How lovely! How lovely! Adam: Scab’s brown. That’s red, look at that! Fake news. Alright! What I’m gonna do is, I’m gonna make this look a bit more weathered. So, I’m gonna add some around the edge like this and they’re gonna dry off my brush.
So, wipe the excess off. And then, gonna start to sort of pat it, so it blends in and makes it look a bit more old and more vintage, yeah. Adam: Like they stabbed somebody. Kirsty: You’re doing my head in today.
Adam: Because it’s too early for you, that’s why. So, the same again. I think I am gonna add a little bit of black to it as well. So, you’re just patting it and making it thinner. I’m gonna cure that.
So, I’ve got a little bit of Serious Black, and I just really want to darken this edge a little bit more. I’m just adding a little bit. I’m gonna do the same thing with it. I’m just gonna sort of blend it by tapping and just give that a little bit of depth.
Gonna do the same here as well. So, I’m gonna use this gold now. It’s beautiful. I’m just gonna pop it on to this backing paper first. so you don’t need a lot, you can use the same brush as well. You don’t want lots on.
You just want a little bit of sparkle and we’re just gonna tap that over here. And that on its own does look very, very nice. And when you’re happy with that, pop that into the lamp. I’m gonna top coat with the Urban Graffiti Topcoat.
We need to do this before we pop the design on. So, we’ve got a really nice background here. You could just do something like this on its own. Pop it in the lamp. So, now we’re gonna crack on with this Rosary Bead design and I’m going to be using some gorgeous stuff.
The rosary bead has a cross at the end and we’ll be using this beautiful charm. Look at that! And it actually has a curve on it. I’ll take one out of here. Adam: So it fits the nail better? Kirsty: Yeah.
Take a look at it. Can you see it here? It actually has a curve. Adam: How can they make these things? Kirsty: Because you’ve got good eyes, haven’t you? Adam: Maybe mice made them Kirsty: Maybe. You might be right.
Adam: A mouse factory. I think most factories have mice. Kirsty: We’re gonna position this, first of all. We’re gonna work from that. I’m gonna use Mega Gloss. Pop some on to my little backing paper.
Gonna get a brush and I’m actually going to put this on the other side. so on this side that’s going to stick to the nail. So, basically using that as a glue. Set it in place. Make sure it’s where you want it and I’m gonna pop that into the lamp.
I had to do a project. I’m saying that… hold on. No, it wasn’t my project, it was the kids project. However… Adam: Did you take over the kid’s project? Kirsty: This tends to happen. So, I’ve got another one coming up, to be honest.
excited. I do like it when the kids come home and go, “oh, I’ve got a project.” And I’m like, ”oh, what do we have to do” My girls go to a Catholic school, so for one of their homeworks, they have to make rosary beads and it could be made out of anything.
And the last one we did, so Little Cassidy made hers, shes my youngest…made it out of plastic, we made it out of plastic, which is really cool, Allycia We actually made like a real one that somebody could actually wear.
It was absolutely really nice. So, I can’t remember what everything represents, but we did actually go through all that. I have something on my phone that sort of says what each thing is. it doesn’t, it is not a dead deep in explanation.
So, you’ve got the crucifix and then, we’ve got this bead here and the three beads there and then, it says here – ”five decades.” And I bet I can find something a bit more in depth from that that says what they’re actually for because I can’t remember.
Adam: Hey Siri! Kirsty: So, this is what I found. So, we’ve got – Pray The Our Father. That’s that bead and it got three Hail Marys. Adam: What’s a Hail Mary? Kirsty: But don’t you… when you go to..
. Adam: I don’t go anywhere. Kirsty: When you go to… have your sins forgiven Adam: Confession. Kirsty: Confession! When you go to confession, don’t you have to… Adam: Yeah, they usually do Hail Marys but what is a Hail Mary Kirsty: Confession! When you go to confession, don’t you have to.
.. Kirsty: I don’t know. Adam: That’s what I’m asking, what is it Kirsty: Well, there’s ten Hail Marys between each bead. I think it’s says, is it the way you pray? Adam: I have no idea. Kirsty: You have to like do something certain ones.
Like I’ve said before, I’m not really religious, so I don’t know everything there is to know about lots of different religions, but I do think that the Rosary Beads are very nice. They look very nice and they obviously have a very nice meaning as well.
So, that’s why we’re gonna work with that today. Right! So, what I’m gonna do is, we’re gonna use these pieces of metal as well. So, we’ve got these embellishments. Now, this one, I like this one here.
we’ll get it in the right position. You can see. We’re gonna use the gold one actually. I’m just gonna show you this one. You see how it’s got three… some of it’s got three little beads. So, I think that’s perfect for the three Hail Marys.
But then, there’s a bead between each one and we’re going to use the gorgeous tiny crystals. And we will use Mega Gloss to adhere these on. Right! So, we have that set in. I’m gonna flash cure that. Flash curing it will just hold it in place.
So, what I’m gonna do is, I’m gonna get some of the Mega Gloss and I’m just gonna go over very gently, over the metal just to keep everything in place and to make the metal pieces last longer as well.
I like to just seal them in. I’m gonna pop that in the lamp and give that a cure for the last time. So, I think this would be perfect for somebody that is really religious. I think it’s really nice. And you don’t forget, you can take inspiration from this and just do a necklace.
If you want to do it like a necklace, that’d be pretty cool as well. So, you can see you’ve got, there’s different sections of the Hail Mary, so you’ve got the first ones here and you’ve got the 1 2 3 4 5 little sections and then the little beads in between.
There you are! I like it. Adam: So, like accent nail-wise, what would you… so, that being accent nail, what would you do? Kirsty: Yeah! On the other nails, what I do is maybe do a full gold one and then a colour, this colour and then a little bit of this on top of it as well and then definitely a full one of that pearly colour that we used.
You can even add a metallic gold in there as well, it’ll look cool There you are guys! I hope you’ve enjoyed that video. Don’t forget, the products I’ve used today will be listed below as always. I hope you’ve enjoyed my Rosary Bead inspired design.
Give us a thumbs up and subscribe and I’ll see you in the next video. Bye bye! Adam: What we’ll do is, we’ll speed this up and we’ll put something like, some hymns over the top of it. [Hymn sound] Adam: Isn’t that like 2001 A space odyssey or something.
.. Kirsty: Probably, Adam: No it was like close encounter Kirsty: See! I’m just useless. Adam: You did close encounters Kirsty: Well, you know…
