Hi I am Kirsty Meakin from Naio Nails and in this video we are going to revisit Marvel versus DC. The battle continues. So we have broken down the videos into each character and this video for you is Batman.
First of all I am going to give these nails a background I’ve obviously already created a gorgeous ballerina nail you know it’s my favourite style of nail at the minute bang on trend, that’s what we like.
So I’m using Bayside Kiss and Bubbles First of all I’m gonna pop Bayside Kiss on the tip. Gonna do this on all of the nails and just gonna blend that back. This does not need to be perfect. This is just a background, a lot of this will be covered with the artwork.
All of the artwork is pretty much gonna be done with paint so acrylic paints. Pop that in the lamp for me thank you. Gimme your other hand. 2nd coat of colour, and just pull it back… with a gel brush.
So with the Bubbles colour Nice neat cuticle. Drag it down over the top a bit. We’re just doing a quick basic fade. The most important part is the cuticle of this, cause don’t forget it’s gonna be covered with a design, purely just so the background has a little bit of interest.
2nd coat of Bubbles. So now I am going to seal this with top and base I am going to add some pigment onto this so I need the top and base there so I can put the pigment on. I also need to seal the gel polish as well.
That needs to be nice and sealed. So I am gonna take off the sticky layer with nothing but the cotton pad. Well, it’s tissue pad this one is. Until I can hear it squeaking. I’m gonna do that on all ten nails.
So now I am gonna use the absolutely gorgeous holographic pigment. Oh my God, this stuff is amazing. So I’m just gonna take some of it and rub it in. A little bit. I’m just gonna put it… I’m not gonna put it perfectly in one area, just adding it quite random.
Just so you’ll see a little bit of it popping through, the design. Flick over with the brush to take off any excess, and what that will do, any of that excess will just sit in other places as well. I want it really random, like that.
So we are not trying to get a full look, we just want a bit of random sparkle. Just to make it a little bit more girly. Now I am going to seal this hologram pigment. I’m gonna seal it with top and base.
I’m just gonna use some Gel residue wipe off solution to take off the sticky layer. So because I am going to paint on top of this surface, I’m going to buff the top layer. Just so it’s matte. And I find that it really helps me when I paint, because the paint really grabs on to the area.
We’re gonna take a little bit of white and water it down. And I’m just gonna map out, where I’m gonna put Batman. Okay, now I can start to… add the colour. So I am gonna add the black obviously to his Batman Mask *Adam* *It’s a Cowl, the Bat cowl.
The Bat Cowl? *Adam* Yeah. Is that what it’s called? *Adam* It’s called the cowl, yeah. *Adam* Cape and Cowl. Cape and Cowl? Is that like Simon Cowell? *Adam* I’m gonna teach you about Superheros now.
Is that like Simon Cowell? *Adam* No. No? Okay. My brother knows a lot about all this kind of stuff. I’m more of a Star Wars girl me. *Adam* We could have done Star Wars, do Star Wars Next time. So why is it not called a mask? *Adam* It’s just called a cowl.
*Adam* I don’t know, I would have to look it up in the dictionary. *Adam* The Bat Cowl. Is it anything to do with Bats? Like For Real Bats? *Adam* I don’t think so God he has got some traps going on. He’s got some serious traps going on.
He’s been working out in the gym. So I’ve got this flesh colour, this is a Polycolour called Flesh Tint. So this is just going here, onto where his skin is showing, underneath his cowl. Not his mask, it’s not called a mask apparently.
His cape falls over his traps and he’s got some serious traps going on. I just watered that black down, just so it’s not so black. Damn, this is looking pretty good already. Again watering that black down.
.. to create more of a, sort of a, wash grey. But notice how I the lines first, so they still show through. And the lines are obviously there for the ripples in the cape. I’m gonna mix white with the tiniest bit of black to make a grey.
That’s gonna go here. NO way, did you see what I did there? Oh my God look at that little bit there, I’m gonna have to correct that. I’ll show you how to do that. So I’m just gonna get black, and go over that, and just smudge that out a little bit.
Take some of the black wash and create a bit of depth into the shoulder there. Gonna get this navy and make it into a wash. I’m just adding a little bit of it, to parts of his cape. And then we’re gonna add some navy, with white, until I get like a mid blue.
This is gonna help me do the highlight. Gonna do the top of his head and then we’re gonna sneak down the sides, and I’m just wiggling me brush just so it’s more sketchy, so it looks more cartoonie. I’m gonna go down one side of his nose.
Then I’m gonna take white, little bit of water… to do his eyes. Now with the black, just gonna neaten them up a little bit. It’s easier to put the eyes on and then neaten up around the outside. It’s gonna give them a bit of a frame as well.
With the black wash, just gonna do a little bit of definition to his face. Now I’m gonna take some black with just a little bit of water in so it’s a bit more intense. And I just want to do his mouth.
I’m gonna add some highlight now, using the white, and some water. Just a slight bit of highlight, here on his cheek. And then we are gonna highlight some of his, what’s it called? *Adam* Cowl. Cowl.
Some of his Cowl. Now I’m gonna take some black and we are gonna do a Bat sign here. We’re gonna do the Batman sign. So I’ve done the outline there, I’m just gonna fill that in. So it’s easier to do the outline and then just fill it in, rather than trying to do the whole thing at once.
If there’s anything you don’t like, you can take a tool and scratch off any paint. To neaten up, a little trick there! I think I am happy with that now, so now I am going to seal it. I’m gonna seal it with top and base.
Make sure all of the paint is completely dry, and look that’s gonna bring out the sparkle in the background as well. So I’m gonna take off the sticky layer, with the gel residue wipe off solution. And there’s Batman!
