Hi, i’m Kirsty Meakin from Naio Nails and guess what? it’s Halloween Time, so what i am going to do for you in this video is some basic nail art for Halloween, we are gonna do some characters, so we’re gonna do the vampire Dracula, and then we are gonna do a witch.
So first of all i am gonna sculpt the nail out, I have already prepped this nail, so what i mean by that is i have removed the surface shine from these nails, then i am going to prep them with nail prep dehydrator, so i am gonna take the tab and just line this up to see how it fits, not too bad.
so i’m gonna put the tab here, to give it double thickness, to make it easier to hold the curve, gonna anchor it under that free edge and then i am gonna close the tabs. If you want to see a video that is just about fitting a sculpting form you can check it out here, just click that little thing, there, click it and you can watch that.
Same again for the little pinky finger. With clear acrylic i am going to make the free edge, very thin, i am gonna do this on both nails. we are gonna use the color musically., sorry it’s not called musically, it’s called musical.
So it’s a dark purple that’s got lots of glitter running through it, it’s got some chunkier pieces in there aswell, it’s quite an exciting colour. ONce you have applied the colour, we will then encapsulate it with clear, once that sets up a little bit, we will pinch that nail a bit.
while that’s pinching i will continue with the pinky, and the colour we are going to use on the pinky is, midnight stardust.this is a dark blue and it’s got glitter all running through it. this looks like a starry night i think.
ONce i am happy with that shape and the colour that is on there, i’m gonna cap that with clear, just like we did with the purple. Once that has set up a bit i am gonna put the pinching tool on. While it’s setting, i’m just gonna start to file this one.
just gonna do my normal filing routine, So i am just using the efile to refine the surface and reduce the thickness. This electric file, isn’t as noisy as it sounds, sounds really noisy on the camera but it’s not that noisy, is it jackie, NO.
Just gonna buff these with the white block, now just to smooth them over, and i am gonna clean them over with acetone, clean the rest of the dust off and also smooth that surface even more, So on my palette here i am gonna pop a few colours, so i have got black, i’ve got flesh tint, these are all from the polycolor acrylic paint range, zinc white, haynes grey, and carmine.
So i am gonna get the black, and i am gonna go right around this cuticle, so i am gonna use some of the flesh tint, on this side, so we’ve got half the face there, then i am gonna add a bit of white to the flesh tint to make it a little bit paler, so everything is slightly paler on this side.
and we’ll do two coats of that. Same on this side, i’m gonna let that dry and then with the black, i am gonna do this side. This is his cape thingy, what is it called, i bet there is a name for it isn’t there, i bet there is a name for his cape, bet there is like a proper name, gonna get slated because i have used the incorrect word.
Now that his face is dry, we’re gonna do his eyes gonna use the red which was carmine. I’m just neatening up this eye, to make it the same as the other one. and then we are gonna do this simple mouth, everything is very simple on this.
then we have one sort of red tooth here, I think it is missing, you know how sometimes the collar is like red. You know how he has the medallion type thing, I’m not gonna do the medallion , i’m keeping it simple.
what is the medallion thing that he wear anyway? Is it like ‘I am the champion of blood sucking’. and i think i am gonna do this, it needs a very slight opening of the old cape, this characters is done, there is no outlining have you noticed? it’s all done with the colour, the character is created with the colour.
does that make sense to you? So once that is dry, i am going to seal that with mega gloss, which is going to bring out the colours and smooth it all neat and go all nice and shiny. So i have seen some comments, people saying yes, it;s a really nice design, but you’ve gotta be really good a painting to do that.
Not with that one, because that is just shapes, Exactly, these are just shapes. you don’t have to outline it or anything like that, no mapping out the design, they are just simple shapes with colour. So i am gonna finish him off, with a Stake to the heart!! We are gonna finish him of with a bit of cuticle oil, we’ll be kind to him, we won’t put a stake through his heart.
so there you are there is dracula, and now we will crack on with the witch. We are gonna use the same painting technique, so we don’t need to outline or anything like that, it’s gonna be really simple, just shapes of colour, that’s it.
So i have a bit of black out already, and i am gonna use a bit of violet, and magenta, and emerald green. I have some skin colours out already, we are gonna start with her hair, which is a really simple shape.
make a grey with a touch of white, lighten it a little bit more. now for her face. so i am doing the hat now, just simple shapes again. now i am gonna mix some purple, and the magenta, this is gonna be the brim.
So the emerald green we’ve got for the eyes, and these are simple eyes. So once everything is dry, you can top coat it with mega gloss, So i am gonna finish the little witchy off with a bit of cuticle oil, she is a cute witch, she is not a nasty witch, or maybe she has got another side to her.
There you are a little cute witch.
