We show you how to use the transfer foil on gel polish nails. We apply the first layer of No. 4 gel polish. On the ring finger we prepare an ombre nail. On one half of the nail we paint No. 4 gel polish, on the other half we put No.
27. We blend the colours together where they meet. The colour transition will not be perfect for the first layer, but it will be impressive after the second layer is applied. On the other fingers, we just apply No.
27 gel polish. Once we put the first coat of gel polish on all fingers, we cure them for two minutes. After curing we apply the second coat. There are pastel colours which needs 3 coats for the perfect coverage.
Or apply them in 2 coats on white colour base. We do not have a white base now, but 2 coats are still enough, because we are going to decorate it with transfer foil. We continue by working on the colour transition.
We only stop when the transition is gradual and even, so the contrast between the colours disappear. After the second layer of gel polish, we cure it to hard in 2 minutes. Then we cover the nails with 2 in 1 Base and Top gel polish, we cure them in 2 minutes, and cleanse off the sticky residue.
We buff the ring and middle fingers to get a nice matte surface, onto which we will put our decoration. If you do not want to take the materials from far, then use your thumb as a palette. Alexa is picking up the foil gel from her thumb.
On the ring finger with the ombre effect, she is drawing an irregular wing shape of a butterfly with a Vamp Striper brush. Once the design is drawn, cure the gel for exactly 2 minutes. After curing push the matte side of the golden holograhic foil – No.
123 – onto the design. Then pull it off with a firm move. If the foil does not cover the gel perfectly, repeat this step several times. At the nail folds, push back the skin a little, so the foil could stick on the nail perfectly.
We can also use foil glue with the transfer foil. It is important to apply the glue in a really thin layer. Otherwise the glue does not dry and the foil will not stick on it. The foil glue dries on air, so there’s no need to put it under UV lamp.
We recommend to use glue on larger foil surfaces, and to use foil gel when its about smaller, thinner designs. When we apply the foil glue, it looks wet. Once it dries, it looks shiny. We should press the matte side of the transfer foil on the glue, just like in the case of foil gel, then rip it off.
If it does not stick perftectly, repeat this step several times. Then we draw the contour of the design with black SuperShine gel and Vamp Striper brush. To make sure the SuperShine gel does not flow off, we put the design in lamp for a couple of seconds.
Then we continue with the decoration. Besides black, white looks also good on this design, so with cleanse-free white gel, SuperShine No. 502 and a Striper brush, we colour out our design. If you prefer a dotting tool, you may use it, too.
We cure it to hard in 2 minutes. Then we apply 2 in 1 Base and Top gel polish. After curing for two minutes, we cleanse it. Finally we massage a fair amount of cuticle oil into the skin. And we can just take pleasure in the final outcome! 🙂
