Have you heard of the absolute queen who is Mikaela Long? You have? I’m not surprised. Welcome to today’s YouTube episode on the web Where we take inspiration from the absolute legend Mikaela Long And draw stuff with makeup.
And like always we strive on this Um, *looks uncertain* channel To follow in the footsteps of an absolute queen. *beauty* *grace* *style* *veganness* *major voice quaver* So like always Um, I failed to properly explain myself in the intro Um, But basically today we’re going to be taking inspiration from Mikaela Long’s video Where she put art supplies on her face And we’re gonna do the opposite and put makeup on paper Ummmmmmm, I’m gonna be honest right off the bat This video is really just an excuse to talk about Mikaela Long.
I’m sure other people have done this sort of, you know, challenge before and I know for a fact A couple years ago Drawing With Jazza made a video where he drew something with makeup But our focus today is on Mikaela Long’s masterpiece And if you haven’t seen that She manages to look absolutely fabulous while smudging chalk And um, $1 paint on her face.
Basically, if you haven’t seen any of Mikaela’s videos she makes the most wholesome content I mean it’s not like clean, right? But, um, just she’s so cheerful and honest and wonderful and you can tell she- She’s just such a great individual Um, She’s really funny and she’s like- I don’t know the biggest meme?? I don’t know, if you like vines and you like when people quote them in comedic ways *clicks tongue* Uh, Mikaela’s your girl And I don’t know I feel like she really tries her best to put out like the best content she can! Um, So yeah, if you haven’t seen her, You should probably go check her out Aaaand help get that that that absolute queen to a million subs! Because somehow she doesn’t have them yet?? But- back to this painting, to this illustration Um, If you’re wondering I basically just thought okay what can I do with these colors? And I just- I kind of default to drawing painting, sunsets? And so I thought I don’t know just The lipsticks were so satisfying and creamy to apply that I just started And the more I did.
.. I don’t know I felt like all the colors were too like bright? And so of course I added like the navy blue nail polish and then I realized I had a green nail polish and I put that down, and like I wanted to use kind of the chalky appearance of the lipstick to add some texture And then I just I kind of went with the flow with this.
I added some purple eyeshadow I used water to make sort of a paste so that it would stick to the page And I just, I kind of went with the flow *in a fancy voice* I did what felt right~~~ Um, The biggest thing I regret about this illustration is that looking back at it while I’m editing I can see I had quite a variety of colors to choose from like I had a very- I had a good selection of browns, I had a yellow, a blue eyeshadow I had lots of pink right, and I had some purples.
Uh, and so I really wish I had used more colors in this illustration or chosen something else to draw? Because I just kind of fell back on the nail polishes I had which were much easier to use but I would say less interesting.
At one point the smell of the nail polish was just so strong that I thought I was gonna die I thought I was gonna like get nail polish fumes poisoning Um, And it was just so incredibly STRONG Now my whole room smells like old lipstick like really really waxy And like makeup-y Just it’s like, the smell has like just contaminated the entire ROOM It’s SO waxy and OLD smelling I just- I just want to reassure you if it’s triggering you That I’m just like scrubbing makeup like all over a piece of paper and ruining it this makeup is all a decade old, it’s it’s crusty, it’s so old it’s just like the smell.
there’s just this smell to old makeup you know it’s expired, you know you probably shouldn’t put it on your face you know you have put it on your face and it’s an experience let me tell you
