HI i am Kirsty Meakin from Naio Nails and in this video we are gonna do some new years eve nails. So in this design i am going to hand paint a london skyline with fire works going off. Is that the kind of noise them make? Bang Now it’s more like, They go like that as well.
We’ll do some sound effect on that. I am gonna do this design over the five nails so you are gonna get a full look, it’s all gonna be hand painted but first of all we have to sculpt out a gorgeous ballerina shape, and i am gonna do this with a sculpting form.
So i have the tab on the back, I am gonna rock that between my thumbs to give it a nice curve and closing the end you are gonna imagine you are doing a stiletto because that is how we start off this ballerina shape.
If you want to see a video that just shows you how to create a ballerina shape Check out this link here over my shoulder, that one there. So it’s nice and tight because we want a nice c curve, I am gonna prep the nail now with Dehydrator, i have already removed the surface shine from this nail because we have actually soaked off some nails, So it is already abraised and then we are gonna put on primer.
And i am gonna do two coats of that. Letting the first coat dry, I am gonna use natural beige to sculpt this out, my favourite colour, i know i use it a lot, i do apologise but i love it. In my dampen dish i have highspeed, because i am gonna sculpt it all out in one go.
So i am gonna pick up a nice big bead, tipping the finger down, i am just laying that down nice and long. I am gonna sort out the back, make sure it is nice and flush, from side to side. Make sure you have that Apex in there, if you don’t know what an apex is , you need to check out the video that is titled.
What’s it titled Adam. Nail Technician Terminology or something like that. See you don’t even need me, you know everything yourself. Yeah, we do need you, i need you in my life. Only for short periods of time.
Just while we are filming. So the advantage of sculpting it all out in one bead means that it is all going to set at the same time. which makes it easier to pinch the nail, we will get a nicer shape, you have gotta work quick, obviously i am using highspeed, you don’t have to use highspeed, you could use max adhesion or you could use medium set, it depends how quick you want it to set.
I am gonna let that set up a little bit. Gonna pop the pinching tool on now, this is gonna slim the nail down and it’s gonna pinch in a nice c curve. Gonna pinch the tip of the nail now, i can take this form off.
and i can pinch the tip even more. because i can look down the barrel of the nail. Gonna file it into shape now, doing my usual filing routine, side walls first, So as you are filing the side walls, you are actually filing the free edge shape at the same time.
So around the cuticle just to make that nice and flush, you don’;t want a lip at the back, if you have thickness at the back it is gonna lift, and we don’t want it to lift because then the client is gonna come back and go oh my nails have been lifting, and if there is a point at which they can see that lifting do you know what they’ll do, oh i’ll just er, oh look it’s just fell off, they’ll pick it off, So we don’t want no lifting, and then over the top we are gonna contour the top surface of the nail, SO you can see that i twist the finger like this, so i can get in a little bit easier, gonna go over with the white sanding block, just to remove the demarkations, make sure it is nice and smooth.
So i have wiped over with Acetone, just to clean those up and it is also gonna melt the top surface slightly and makes it nice and smooth, it makes it smooth like a , not my face, And now we are gonna paint.
I have got my palette, gonna pop some colours on there. because we are gonna do the background first oh my god i am not strong enough. There we are, Okay so we’ve got, what’s that one called, ultra marine, and then we have got primary blue, an white and then we’ve got, what have we got here, violet, i just wanna say purple but i am telling you the correct colours and then we have primary red, and this i primary yellow.
So with my brush i am gonna use this dark purple right at the top. and we are gonn do the same background on the four nails, I am gonna leave the thumb. Rinse my brush and i am just gonna blend that a little bit and then we are gonna go in with the marine the ultra marine colourand over lap that.
and i am drying off the brush so it has not got much paint on, and i am gonna dab that down, so we can then over lap that again. rinse my brush and we are gonna use the primary red to over lap, gonna get a little bit more of that blue, to help this blend.
and a bit more of the magenta and we have got some more of the yellow and we are just blending that,. now i am showing you this nail, you know at one time, but you don’t have to do one nail at a time, you could do all of the blue, all of the purple, all of the pink or the yellow, you can do it like that across the four nails, you don’t need to go to the tip that is gonna have something else on.
So you are just creating that fade at first, i am gonna put a little bit more purple at the back, to make that a little bit stronger. Then we are gonna create that look across all of these four nails.
So that is all complete and it is dry , we are gonna turn the hand over because this is how we are gonna do it, as if it is a picture going across the nails, so i want all four nails together to see where i am going to line everything up.
so the tips need to be black, i have got some black paint. and i am literally gonna paint across the think i am gonna use a bigger brush. They are all gonna start from the bottom there, so we are gonna do the silhouettes of london town, So we have, if you think about the iconic sort of buildings, that you see in london, The Houses of Parlaiment The Houses of Parlaiment, tower Bridge, They call it the Geurkin, what is that A sky Scraper.
Yeah i got that, Erm, Big Ben and That’s The Houses of Parlaiment, Yeah, oh is it separate OR is it on it. Big Ben in the Bell. Ah, Big Ben is just the bell aint it. And then we’ve got the London Eye WHich is a wheel thing.
So we are gonna do the side of the towers, because there is little sort of tower things, and we’ll do them this side. Then we’ll do it as if the bridge is opening. Tower Bridge has like, these little pointy things on the top of the columns gonna do little flags at the top of there.
And then we are gonna move on and do part of the The Houses of Parlaiment, couldn’t think what they were called then. And we are gonna do the Gerkin, they call it the Gerkin, i don’t even know what is in that building.
I am gonna mix a little bit of white into the black to make it a little bit grey. Then we are gonna do a little bit of the houses of parliament. Before you all start and say, well it’s not that close, Houses of Parliament isn’t that close to the Gerkin, We are just doing, you know, the popular buildings.
We’ll fill this black and then we can add any highlights, for the windows after, I am just doing some of the detail at the top of the houses of parliament. So we have painted the little windows in. The next nail needs to line up with this.
so i am gonna put those together. and get the black paint. we are gonna do big ben. SO that is the tower that it sits on. and then it comes out wider and goes back in and then we have sort of a pointy top.
and then mixing a grey colour again. we are gonna add a little bit of detail. we are gonna do the clock at midnight. and then with the white we are gonna highlight where the numbers would be. ever so slightly.
and we are gonna do some little windows. on this one we are gonna do the wheel. which is the London Eye. Now this is the hard bit, you have gotta do this circle. and we are just putting the detail in now.
So with the white i am just gonna put a bit of highlight on to the little pods. I am gonna seal that, with mega gloss, make sure you cap all of this work. Now i know what you are thinking, it doesn’t look very new years eve at the minute.
it just looks like a london Skyline and you’d be right. but we are gonna add fireworks to make it new years eve, while that is in the lamp i am gonna take some of the mega gloss, and put that onto the backing of a sculpting form.
and we are gonna mix some of the holographic chrome powder in with that, and we are gonna use this for our fireworks, I have a fine detail brush, and just get creative and add random fireworks shapes and they are just little strokes of glitter.
So i am just flash curing that so it stays still and i am gonna do this across all of the other nails. So they are all cured, i can finish those off with cuticle oil now and then we will go on to doing the thumb.
You can see that the design follows across all of the nails. and it still look cool going across like this aswell. Why is it called the London Eye? because it sees all over London? Hang on i’ll google that after i have googled this one, So the Palace of Westminster was built in 1016.
Right and then it was demolished in 1834 due to fire, and then it was rebuilt in 1840-1870 so 30 years to rebuild it. wow Are you listening Kids this is a HIstory Lesson, from us owld english people. Yeah old, us owld English people from London even though we are not from London.
But we love London, London Town
