Kirsty: Hi everybody, I’m Kirsty Meakin from Naio Nails. In this video, we are going to do a Fendi nail. I’m super excited not just because we’re doing a designer nail, because we all know I love a designer nail but because we have Meg with us today.
So, just tell them a little bit about you. Meg: Right! So, my name is Meg. I’m from Lincoln. I’ve traveled today, and I usually just do makeup and stuff but yeah, today, we’re doing nails. Kirsty: So, on Instagram, how many followers have you got on Instagram? Meg: 400,000.
Kirsty: She’s like 400,000. Meg: I hate saying that. Kirsty: Just blow the trumpet. Come on, blow the trumpet. Meg: You asked me. Kirsty: So, 400,000 that’s pretty freaking amazing. I’d love to have 400,000.
Adam: How did you get started on building that up? That’s a lot of people. Meg: Basically, just started posting photos of myself when I was really young. It just went from there. Meg: My photos just started getting shared around and stuff.
Kirsty: Yeah. Meg: Just literally, within a week, I had like 100k. Adam: That never happens to me. Kirsty: I don’t know, Adam. Don’t know why. Maybe you should get Meg to do your face. Adam: Do me makeup.
Meg: Yeah. Kirsty: Yeah. And then you’ll be fine. You’ll be well away. Kirsty: Yeah! So, you are pretty amazing at makeup though. Meg: And you’re amazing at nails. Kirsty: Oh, thank you. What a fabulous collaboration.
Kirsty: Right! So, I’m gonna sculpt this nail out. I have already prepared the nail. So, I’ve done all of the cuticle, removed the surface shine and all that and now we’re gonna sculpt this nail. And we’re gonna do a ballerina nail.
Now, Meg did say, “I want a coffin nail.” Adam: It’s not Halloween, love. Kirsty: We are not doing coffin, we’re doing ballerina, darling. Meg: Ballerina sounds so much nicer. Kirsty: It does, doesn’t it.
It’s a common word as the coffin. Meg: I always think ballerina’s pointed. Kirsty: No! Kirsty: Not at all. I mean… Adam: The shoes are called points, aren’t they? Meg: Yeah. Kirsty: Yeah, but they’ve got a block.
.. Adam: But they’re not.. Kirsty: …they’ve got a block on the end, don’t they? Adam: Like witches feet. Kirsty: Yeah! I think my feet would fit really fit nice into those because I’ve got really square feet.
I hate my feet. Kirsty: You know how these shoes that are in fashion, these transparent shoes? Meg: Yeah! Kirsty: They’re like, they’re all pointed. Meg: Awful. Kirsty: My feet would just look horrendous in them.
Adam: Like, you can see into the toes where they’ll all be like, crushed up like that Kirsty: Yeah. Kirsty: Aren’t they? They’re all in but no. Meg: I’ll never have my toenails painted, so that’s just awful.
Kirsty: Yeah, so that wouldn’t be a good one for you. But yeah, I see like, people wearing them and I think, “oh, they look so nice.” But then, I try them on, I go, “oh my God, my feet are so ugly.” Kirsty: So, you normally have them quite long anyway, don’t you? Meg: Yeah.
Kirsty: So, you can cope with them long. Meg: It looks like I’m swearing at you. What’s your favourite makeup brands then? Do you have a favourite? Meg: Probably Anastasia Beverly Hills. Kirsty: Yeah.
Why is that then? Meg: I don’t know. I just like their stuff. They have so much makeup. Kirsty: A lot of variety. Meg: Yeah. Kirsty: The pigment’s really good, ain’t it? Meg: It’s just such a good quality.
Kirsty: Yeah! So, I’m going to dehydrate the nail now and I’m gonna use Acid Based Primer. There’s a bit of fluff on there, we’ll just grab that like that. So, just on the natural nail. So, this Fendi design will be done with gel polish and also hand-painted design as well.
So, we’re gonna sculpt this nail out with Natural Beige. So, we’re just gonna do a full ballerina nail. I don’t need to do a Clear base or anything like that because we’re not going to put any colours in or glitter in or anything like that.
Literally, we’re going to sculpt it the entire thing out in Natural Beige. So, we’re starting with the free edge. And we start with the free edge first because this will take longer to set, believe it or not because it’s not close to the finger, and the finger there has warmth and the warmth will make make the acrylic set quicker.
How long do you wanna go? Kirsty: Longer? Should just go to a three. Meg: Yeah. Kirsty: Yeah? Meg: Yeah. Kirsty: Fay’s go to a three, don’t they? Adam: Four. Kirsty: Get lost! Meg: Yeah, I think remember seeing her go to a four.
Kirsty: Do you want a four? Adam: It’s normally three and a half and then, when you do a fill, it will go to a four and then sometimes it goes to a four and half. Depending on how long it’s taken for her to come back for a fill.
Kirsty: Okay, I know. Let’s go even longer. Kirsty: I just know that Meg wants Fay’s style of nails. Meg: Love Fay’s nails. Kirsty: If you’re new to the channel and you don’t know what we’re talking about you need to check out.
.. Adam: Worst Client Ever. Meg: Worst Nail Client Ever. Kirsty: Yeah, the ‘Worst Nail Client Ever’ videos. They are Fay. I’m gonna do this in three beads because it’s such a long nail. So, I’m now gonna bring this bead down over the top of what we’ve just done but I’ve moved slightly further back.
Meg: Love the smell of acrylic. Kirsty: Do you? Meg: I just love the smell. Kirsty: So, getting that cuticle area nice and neat. I’m building up that apex. Slide it, oil it because she’s so young and supple.
Meg; Not because I’ve got greasy hands or anything just because I’m young. Kirsty: Young and supple Kirsty: and you haven’t got to dehydrate the skin like those older folks. This is a long nail. Meg: I love when you pinch nails.
It’s iconic. Kirsty: Alright! So, we’re gonna pinch this now it’s starting to set. Kirsty: That hurt? Meg: Tiny bit. Kirsty: Nothing? Adam: She never flinched. Kirsty: She never flinched. Adam: She didn’t flinch.
Kirsty: You’re good. You can come again. So, I’m checking the pinch down the barrel of the nail as well. Making sure it flows all the way from here, all the way to the tip. If you listen to this here, that’s set.
See the difference in sound? That’s not set yet. So, even though we did this section first, it’s still taking longer to set because of the warmth of the finger makes it set quicker. Right! So, we’re gonna take this form off.
So, you can see the curve runs all the way to the tip. Meg: So long. I love it. Kirsty: You love it already? Meg: I know. Kirsty: So, I’m gonna do my normal filing routine. I’m gonna file the sidewalls first.
So, I’ve buffed over that, made it nice and smooth like a baby’s butt. And I’m gonna wipe over with Acetone just to smooth it out even more, make it nice and super perfect, and then I’m going to use..
. So, I’m gonna apply Butterscotch. Not actual butterscotch. This is what the gel polish is called. So, I think this colour works nice with the Fendi colours. So, I’m gonna bounce back towards the cuticle, get it nice and crisp.
So, that’s all I’m concentrating on at this moment in time. Sweep round and just drag that excess down. Gonna pop that into the lamp and we’re gonna do two coats of that colour. I’m gonna topcoat this but I’m gonna do two topcoats.
I’m doing two topcoat because I’m gonna buff the topcoat and I don’t want to buff through the topcoat into the colour. So, I’m gonna do two. I know I’ve got that kind of safety blanket there. I’m buffing it because I’m gonna paint on top of it.
So, I’m gonna take a soft buffer and just remove the shine. It’s a lot easier to paint on top of a buffed surface. The paint likes to attach really well to a buffed surface. So, you wanna use a soft buffer or even an old buffer.
You don’t really want to use a brand spanking new one because you don’t want to remove layers of the colour. Then we’re gonna wipe over with Gel Residue Wipe-off Solution. I want to make sure there’s no oil on there, that’ll interfere with the paint as well.
Kirsty: That’s so nice. Meg: That looks absolutely beautiful. Kirsty: So, we have here, I’ve got some of the Bronze Polycolor and also Black Polycolor, mix them together to make kind of like a bronzy black, believe it or not.
Adam: I thought you were gonna say pink. Kirsty: So, then I’m gonna use a Detail Brush. I’ll need some water. Just put a little bit of that on the palette so we can keep adding it. We want it to flow nice but we don’t want it to lose pigment.
Meg: Do you not get nervous, just like drawing stuff on the nail? Kirsty: I don’t mind it. I quite like the bands actually on this dress here. Kirsty: Oh, I quite like the little bands. Meg: Oh! Kirsty: Oh yeah, I can see it.
Meg: Yeah, I like them bands. Kirsty: I like the bands. Kirsty: Right, okay! So, we’re gonna use these bands here. Gonna do them at the bottom and we’re gonna put these Fendi all over this nail. Now, this is going to be difficult, I’m not gonna lie.
It won’t be the easiest thing that I’ve painted in my life, but I’m gonna show you how to lay out this design. You can see that they come across the nail, come across like this, so that’s what you’re gonna concentrate on.
So, we’ve got F’s that are normal and then upside down F’s. Lot of F’s. I’m gonna start at this top corner. Right, okay! So, I’m gonna start up here with the F. This part is longer than this is one. This is fatter.
So, I made a little mark there at the end of that F, so that I could start with my other. The hardest thing with this is, getting them all to look the same. So again, I’m gonna make a mark there, so I know I’m gonna do one here.
And the more pressure you put on the brush, the wider the line will be. The lighter pressure, the thinner the line will be. So, you can see when we do this part, we’re gonna do with light pressure when you do the main body of the F.
So, you’ve got your starting point there, and then we’re gonna come and do the upside down F’s along that line, and then you will work your way out from that. Anything I’m gonna do, before I do anything else is, we’re gonna do these lines at the bottom here.
I’m gonna do that with striping tape. So we’re gonna use this. I think this is 3 millimeter tape, isn’t it, this? If I’m… Kirsty: Correct me if I’m wrong. Adam: I have no idea. Kirsty: I’m sure everybody will correct me if I’m wrong.
Kirsty: So, you can see that I’ve put the tape on and I have two little gaps there. So, what I’m gonna do now is take some of my paint, paint over there. Now, it doesn’t matter if I go a little bit messy with it because I have the tape there to help protect.
So, I’ve just cut that and I will grab this part and peel it off to reveal the stripes, and there’s a bit of gold on it. We’ve got stripes, now we’re gonna put the upside-down F’s. So, if you remember, when you do this thing, you need to go as high and as low as the right way round F’s.
So, we have all of the F’s. All of the F’s. And I’m gonna topcoat now. Meg: The nail looks so much shorter on camera than it does in real life. Kirsty: I know and it’s all short. Adam: You know what, Kirsty? Kirsty: What? Adam: You cannot be accused of not giving an F anymore.
Kirsty: With all the F’s. Adam: You can give all the F’s. Kirsty: All the F’s. Kirsty: Now, with the topcoat, you can see the slight shimmer to the F’s. Pop me this in the lamp. I’m gonna put another layer of topcoat on because I’m gonna buff this so it goes nice and matte.
You don’t have to, you could keep it nice and shiny. The reason I’m putting two coats of topcoat on is because I don’t want to buff through the F’s because I’ll tell you what, If I file through them F’s that I’ve just painted, I will be extremely unhappy with myself.
So, I’m gonna take a used buffer and buff over to make this nice and matte. Just gonna quickly wipe over with Gel Residue Wipe-off Solution. Well, I’m gonna check that it’s all matte and it is. Fendi! Fendi!! Fendi!!!.
There you are. Love it. There you are, guys. That’s how to create a Fendi Nail. Matte version or shiny version, what do you like? I prefer the matte one. So do you, so do you. What do you? Comment below.
